How is your product related to the design brief; the box and the items in it?
We have worked with the box as a whole by focusing on how you can store and show objects that are valuable to you - because they are unique and exclusive, or simply because they mean something special to you. We were also inspired directly by one of the items, the marble, and chose to use twisted colored glass inside the handle on the glass bells. This because the marble is a great example of an object that isn´t particularly valuable, but still can be perceived as precious and magical.

Can you tell us a little bit about your product?
Show and Tell are glass bells with different height and dimensions, with pine wood bases. The glass is hand blown by Pål Roland Jansen from Egenart Glassmakerne AS at Bærums Verk. The bells become independent and freestanding pieces of furniture when they are raised up and carried on the wooden bases. As a result of the different sizes and proportions Show and Tell each have their own distinctive character and personality.

How has your process been?
For us this has been an exciting process. As initiators to this exhibition, we have been in an interesting position when working on our own project. We have been very excited and curious to see how the other designers interpret the box and the items. It´s been fun working with a brief that had a lot of possibilities, while at the same time gave us a starting point and some limitations. We chose to focus on the emotional aspect in our work, by creating a product that isn´t primarily rational or functional, but rather appeals to the joy of showing others objects that you care about.
